You might be a little worried about discolouration of the stone if you are thinking about using sandstone pavers in an upcoming patio project or for renovating a bathroom. This is a real problem with man-made paving products like concrete but you do not have to worry about discolouration when dealing with Sandstone.
What causes Sandstone Pavers to get dirty?
The obvious answer is anything that is outside is going to get dirty. The atmosphere has dust and dirt that accumulates on the surfaces. Wind and rain both can deposit layers of dirt on the surface.
How can I clean my Pavers?
To clean your Sandstone Pavers thoroughly sweep the ground to remove any leaves, dirt and other debris settled on the surface. Pressure wash is very common for commercial areas like offices or historic monuments. Stains from the sandstone surface can be removed easily.
Is there any way to make sandstone cleaning easier?
We recommend sealing the pavers with a suitable sandstone sealer to make your pavers even easier to clean. Slip resistance is important outdoors which is why we recommend a penetrating sealer. Your sandstone will not be affected by these products and the stone will look totally natural without any shine or colour change with the benefit of being a slip proof surface.
You will find that any spillages can be hosed away even easier than before after your pavers have been sealed. These penetrating sealers allow the stone to “breathe”. This means that any moisture that is on the Sandstone paver or is absorbed by the stone would not be trapped underneath the coating of the sealing. It will evaporate as usual. This is not possible when a topical or surface sealer has been used.
Brisbane Rock Sales team do recommend ensuring that the Sandstone Pavers are regularly cleaned by sweeping the floor. You do not have to do much to keep stone pavers looking good besides, applying a penetrating sealer to make cleaning even easier.
